South Coast Improvement Company (SCI), a design-build general contractor serving New England and the Mid-Atlantic states, recently won a design-build contract for a renovation/addition at Oriol Healthcare’s Oakdale Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at 76 North Main Street in West Boylston, MA. The $7 million project will begin in October 2018 and finish in 2020.

“We’re extremely excited and grateful to work on our first project with Oriol Healthcare,” said Tom Quinlan, president of South Coast Improvement Company. “Over the years, we’ve been successful at healthcare and eldercare facilities because we know how to get our work done with minimal disruption to residents and staff. We look forward to the challenge of delivering that same level of service to Oriol during the construction of the addition.”

Improving traffic flow to and from as well as throughout the facility will be the theme of the project. To that end, the cornerstone of the design/build project be a new addition to connect the existing wings of the facility. Additionally, the main entrance of the building will be reconfigured to again improve traffic flow.

Other project deliverables include the construction of a new kitchen, the conversion of patient rooms from doubles to singles and a complete evaluation of all mechanical, electrical and plumbing.

JACA Architects of Quincy, Massachusetts will be the project architects.

“The Oriol project presents some interesting design possibilities,” said Anthony Cavallaro, founder of JACA Architects. “We’ve worked on many projects with South Coast Improvement and we’re excited to be partnering again at Oriol’s Oakdale facility.”
