Bay Cove Human Services
374 Dorchester Street |
South Boston, Massachusetts
Total Project Cost: $1 Million

Bay Cove Human Services is a leading human service agency in Boston serving individuals facing the challenges of developmental disabilities, mental illness, and drug and alcohol addiction. Bay Cove hired SCIC for significant exterior and interior renovations to their Dorchester Street property.

Work performed included a complete renovation of eight kitchens and bathrooms. The addition of new drywall, ceiling plaster, light fixtures, and other amenities for the bedrooms. Improvements to the common area included a reception area, kitchen, and bath. SCIC did a complete fit-out of a new community center in the basement and added new windows and finishes throughout the building.

Exterior work included washing and refreshing the brick exterior of the building and installation of a new roof and gutters.

Our prior experience includes working with similar facilities where routine is very important to both staff and residents. The same is true for while working here at Bay Cove. It was important to coordinate the renovation closely with Bay Cove

The major selling point of this project for South Coast, was our ability to work on a project that also allowed us to give back to the community.

The City of Boston stipulated that 50% of the workers for this project be Boston residents: 25% minorities and 10% female.

We proudly exceeded those standards, awarding four percent of the contracts to female-owned businesses and hiring workers more than the required amount of Boston residents (51%) and minorities (64%).
