The facade work included scraping, patching, and recoating of the front facade, re pointing of masonry at the rear facade, new roofing at the rear of the building, new windows at the front and rear of the building up to the 3rd floor, reframing of a cornice roof with new copper skirt and gutters, and recoating of the steps up to the entry and down to the lower patio. The entry work included removing historic doors and remounting them as panels creating a new exterior vestibule area with a new barrel ceiling, new glass door system, two new transoms, new walk off mat, and a new demising wall separating the new expanded tenant space from the upper floors.

HVAC and electrical systems received major upgrades including the installation of a 100 Ton Air-Cooled Chiller, new fan coil units, and a new 250kw diesel backup generator. The existing commercial kitchen was upgraded with walk-in refrigeration compressors and condensers.

- [YWCA Of Southern Massachusetts](https://southcoastimprovement.com/project/ywca-of-southern-massachusetts/): This was the fourth project South Coast Improvement Company had recently done in the waterfront area of New Bedford. This project involved the construction of a 6,500 square-foot addition to the existing YWCA building. The new addition would be used for after-school childcare and supportive women's housing programs.
- [Southcoast Health Middletown](https://southcoastimprovement.com/project/southcoast-health-middletown/): South Coast Improvement Company recently was awarded the contract for the build-out of South Coast Health's new Urgent Care Center at 672 Aquidneck Avenue in Middletown, Rhode Island. This represents the sixth Urgent Care South Coast Improvement has built for South Coast Health, a not-for-profit, community-based health system with multiple access points, offering an integrated continuum of health services throughout southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
- [Fresenius Kidney Care](https://southcoastimprovement.com/project/fresenius-kidney-care/): According to the National Kidney Foundation website, kidney disease affects an estimated 37 million in the U.S. Many of those patients need kidney dialysis treatment. Fresenius Kidney Care's construction of a treatment center will go a long way towards providing that care for dialysis patients. South Coast Improvement Company (SCIC) began work on the 16-bed dialysis center in December 2020.
- [Equity Roof Deck](https://southcoastimprovement.com/project/equity-roof-deck/): Located in Boston's bustling Chinatown neighborhood at 660 Washington Street; South Coast Improvement Company, in collaboration with Perkins Eastman Architects, performed renovations and enhancements to Equity Residential's roof to provide a better outdoor experience for their tenants. The additions to the roof bring out the best of the city's skyline and beautiful seating make enjoyable evenings for the residents of this locatio n. One thing that stands out on this job is the fast-paced, high traffic environment of Chinatown with a lot of pedestrian foot t raffic, vehicle congestion, residents and other workers in the building sharing the renovation space. The biggest challenge to working in Downtown Boston is the logistics of getting everything to higher floors with limited space and sensitive time scales. This requires coordination of everything onsite from the delivery of materials, to lifting them to location on top of the b uilding and all this while safely getting the job done.
- [Council On International Educational Exchange](https://southcoastimprovement.com/project/council-on-international-educational-exchange/): Located in Boston's growing Seaport District and giving employees a stunning view of the Boston Harbor, the Council on International Educational Exchange's new headquarters at 308 Congress Street was completed in the summer of 2022. DBI Projects helped find the space that overlooks the Boston Tea Party Museum. With South Coast Improvement Company and Balance Architect's help were able to deliver this bright and flexible working environment for CIEE's team on time and under budget.

- [Atria Stamford](https://southcoastimprovement.com/project/atria-stamford/): Located at 77 3rd Street in a high-rise building in downtown Stamford -with spec­tacular views of Long Island Sound -Atria Stamford is a vibrant community offering older adults the benefits of a simplified lifestyle. In addition to being a senior and assisted living residence, Atria Stamford offers a Life Guidance Mem­ory Care Unit to better serve the growing needs of those living with Alzheimer's and other forms dementia.
- [Atria Merrimack – Senior Living Provider](https://southcoastimprovement.com/project/atria-merrimack-senior-living-provider/): This project included multiple phases to encompass the re purposing and renovating of existing occupied spaces while also doing an out of the ground addition to tie into the existing structure.
- [Custom House Apartments](https://southcoastimprovement.com/project/custom-house-apartments/): Built in 1875, this historic office building at 32 Custom House Street in downtown Providence was converted into 11 apartments, with street-level commercial space. The conversion of this early century office building was completed in 9 months. The project started as a gutted building with fire damage, and was all-inclusive from start to finish. Over the years, he has gained invaluable construction experience in Ireland, England, Australia, and the United States. Gareth first joined South Coast in 2016 as a Superintendent and has since held the roles of Assistant Project Manager, Project Manager, and Project Executive. In the last 5 years as Project Executive, Gareth has been responsible for maintaining client relationships from project inception to project execution whilst working to foster relationships in the industry with prospective clients. His expertise includes, but is not limited to, occupied renovations of senior living facilities and skilled nursing facilities, healthcare, affordable housing, and Commercial Real Estate Development (CRED) along the east coast. Gareth is committed to helping build a pipeline in our vertical: senior living, healthcare, CRED, and education by being active in various professional organizations. Gareth graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education from St. Mary’s University Belfast and a Master’s Degree in Marketing from Ulster University. He is a Member of ASHA and a Developing Leader in the NAOIP - New England Chapter.

- [Ethan Sherman](https://southcoastimprovement.com/team/ethan-sherman/): Over his 13-year career as a superintendent at South Coast Improvement, Ethan Sherman worked on a variety of large-scale projects in both the public and private sectors. In addition to setting the highest standard for safety—without a significant incident during his entire tenure with SCI, Ethan monitors our site superintendents to ensure site safety and security, quality assurance, schedule compliance, and coordination of activities necessary for the project's successful completion.
- [Sarah Murphy](https://southcoastimprovement.com/team/sarah-murphy/): Sarah oversees the Company Health and Safety Program. This includes development, implementation, and execution of South Coast Improvement’s risk management goals. She works closely with all departments to ensure best possible safety practices. Sarah communicates with the production department to identify project specific safety considerations unique to each project. Sarah regularly conducts onsite safety checks, working closely with Site Superintendents and subcontractors. As the primary liaison for public health concerns, Sarah implements current CDC guidelines as they pertain to workplace safety. Prior to joining South Coast in 2017, Sarah practiced as a Registered Nurse. Having worked directly with Alzheimer’s patients and their caretakers in clinical research setting for two years gives her a unique understanding to working in and near memory care units. Sarah holds a BA in Sociology & Psychology from Middlebury College and an AD in Nursing from Bristol Community College. She enjoys quality time with her family, horseback riding, and involvement with Helping Hands and Hooves Therapeutic Riding Association. OSHA 30 Certified. OSHA 510 Pending Certification.
- [Grant LaLiberte](https://southcoastimprovement.com/team/grant-laliberte/): As the Director of Estimating, Grant provides hands on leadership that spans nearly all project phases - from pre-bidding, to compiling thorough estimates, to overseeing preconstruction coordination and working closely with our project managers to ensure project success right through to the end. Directly responsible for estimating, Grant’s expansive knowledge, brings value engineering to every bid. He specializes in projects of all sizes across multiple sectors, including healthcare, senior living, commercial development, hospitality, retail, and industrial.
- [Henry Quinlan](https://southcoastimprovement.com/team/henry-quinlan/): Henry began with South Coast Improvement in 2000. As President, he oversees the day-to-day operations of the construction management firm, including administration, accounting, project management, and staffing. Henry has been the driving force behind every major project at South Coast Improvement, and he sets a very high bar for bringing exemplary discipline, consistency, and integrity to all our projects. He holds a Master of Education degree from Wagner College and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Susquehanna University, where he played football as well. Henry resides in Mattapoisett, MA with his wife of 23 years, Maureen, and their two children, Ryan and Kelly.
